Fuddy-Duddy and Plucky the Ducky was an illustration project that led me to create a fun and unique balloon-dog clown and his brave balloon-duck buddy.
This illustration was tasked to us with the idea to create a character with multiple poses and expressions. I knew I wanted to do a colorful and interesting character, and after some ideation, I created Fuddy-Duddy! Fuddy is a mute, timid, and gentle-giant red balloon dog who works for the local circus with his small and not-so-timid duck buddy Plucky! I used a simple diamond and polka-dot pattern to create his clown suit and used a sketchy brush to create texture on the characters. For the expressions, I wanted to make sure the facials were very over-exaggerated. I referenced older cartoons like Tom and Jerry to make sure they matched the vintage and unique expressions I wanted these characters to have.
